The beauty of the floodplains, deep waterways, and riverine and island woodlands, as well as productive, dry interior, are explored through an extensive range of activities: day and night game drives, nature walks, boating, and mokoro. Rich wildlife: numerous antelope species and predators (lion prides, African wild dogs, leopards and occasionally cheetahs, and raptors).

The camp has a limited supply of basic equipment for your use. Glide Away in a Mokoro Float down the crystal-clear Okavango waterways on a mokoro as you look out for painted reed frogs and waterlilies. After-Dark Safari Go in search of those nocturnal animals such as porcupine, aardwolf, serval, large spotted genet and lesser bushbaby.

Highlights

Little Vumbura is an airy, six-roomed tented camp shaded by the canopy of an ancient forest. Each well-appointed room, hued in soft neutrals with touches of indigo, has en-suite facilities and a deck with sweeping vistas. A plunge pool and reading area overlook the floodplains, and a Star Deck, (across a bridge from the dining area), offers superb stargazing.

Benefits

The Vumbura Private Wilderness Area is leased from remote rural communities in the Okavango Community Trust (OCT). The result of this meaningful and long-standing partnership includes socio-economic benefits, livelihood diversification, and benefits from training and skills development for the people of the villages – as well as building on more positive attitudes to tourism and conservation. The largest number of employees within our Botswana operations are employed from these five villages.
